Hey,

We’re Gwen and Katie of AccountabiliTea.

Do you fear your eyes will stay permanently rolled if you see one more “I just had my first billion dollar month thanks to my trademarked luxury moon charged yoni egg practice”?

Us too. And trust us, we’ve seen it from the back end. (No, not literally. Ew.)

What we mean is — We’ve worked behind the scenes of multiple 7-figure businesses for coaches in the Spiritual Business Space since 2017 in pretty much all the roles (admin, sales, finance, marketing, you name it); and it’s given us a survival guide we’ve been wanting to share pretttttyyy much since then.

The truth is we’re not offended by the idea of a yoni egg practice. You want to pay to learn how to do it from someone who probably read a Goop article and decided they were an expert? That’s cool.

What we’re offended by is the number of people who keep setting themselves up for failure, believing the imagery blasted across the front of a brand and reading the successes without using critical thinking skills to realize it’s for them.

THAT is why people want oversight boards. THAT is why people are saying there are shady practices. THAT is why people are completely leaving the industry.

But it’s not *really* an industry problem.. it’s a personal problem.

People will always reinvent the same ish that’s been around forever, believe it’s new or their own or unique, put their stamp on it, and try to profit.

The way to get in front of it is to take accountability (ope.. there’s that word!).. for the who/what/why of what keeps attracting you to the shite so that you stop making poor decisions for yourself and start making the right ones.

We get enough people to do this, we change the (yes- problematic) trends of the industry.

And then not only do we avoid the annoying crystal dildo posts, we largely avoid the regurgitated “omg, what’s happening to this industry, #amiright” posts. Because those are annoying, too.

For this first mini-season, you can expect us to touch on Spiritual Sisterhood, C-E-Heauxs and Pussy Worship Culture, Polarity in Relationships, Hustle/Flow, The Occult/Christian Pendulum, and much more!

In fact, you can catch extra mini-sodes and tea times inside Accountabilitea Communitea on Facebook - our home base for the real discussions from YOU GUYS meant to be the safe space you dish the capital T-truth like you would your besties. Head on over to Iwantthetea.com now and give us a “sup!”

We’ll also be goofing around on Tiktok with bite-sized sass at accountabiliteapodcast.

Thanks for being here. Our emotions have been brewing, y’all. It’s time to spill the tea.

    How We Got Here

    How We Got Here

The pendulum swings from one extreme to the other, but the healthiest balance is somewhere in the middle. We were both raised to be good Christian girls, but the deep magical intuition we felt growing up couldn’t be ignored.
In this first episode, we’ll talk about our religious upbringing, the searching and questioning phase of our teen years, and how that got us into the online spiritual business world. The way we met was divine and magical, but the coach we were working for turned toxic and we began to see what the coaching space was turning into.
We’re here to spill the tea, or the Kool-Aid as the case may be, to shed some light on the spiritual coaching industry and bring some integriTea and accountabiliTea back to the coaches and influencers in these internet streets.

    Selling Sisterhood

    Selling Sisterhood

Spiritual Sisterhood. First words that come to mind? MLM. Pay to play. Mean girls. Fake. Buying into package after package to get into the “inner circle,” but will any of them still be there if you’re unable to pay for the next package?
The promise of sisterhood is very tempting to women starting out in online business, particularly lonely young moms who want to be able to work from home. At some point, the pendulum will swing the other way and the fake sisterhoods will disintegrate. Leaders will step back, calling their energy back into themselves, “releasing” their clients to do the same. We’ve seen it already.
When there is an authentic community connection being built, it can really be healthy. Most of the time, it’s pretty toxic.

    C-E-Ohhhh's: Spiritual Business Heauxs

    C-E-Ohhhh's: Spiritual Business Heauxs

There’s a lot of layers to this trend of self-proclaimed C-E-Heauxs in the online business space, and we’re going to pick it all apart. There’s a feeling of reclaiming the power, reclaiming the sexuality, but as attraction marketing in business it doesn’t resonate with us.
Pleasure-based business - Bottom line, in an attempt to reclaim their power, women are just falling back into the 2 oldest marketing techniques: controversy and sex sell.Brags - We’re 100% on board with celebrating wins and milestones, but the brags are often things that are the opposite of brag-worthy.The Take Up Space movement - It’s one thing to mindfully heal from disordered eating and love your body, but taking up more physical space just for the sake of taking up more space is unhealthy and manipulative.
The thing is, these women look so empowered that they attract followers that want to feel like that. The validation becomes addictive and toxic. The problem comes when you tie your identity to a particular business model that when you decide you want to change, you have to basically rebuild your entire life.

    Polarity

    Polarity

Following up on last week’s conversation, we’re diving into masculine versus feminine energy and how the pendulum has swung over the last century in the US from masculine-led to feminine-led and back and forth. Now, we’re sort of stuck in this limbo of both men and women being either overly feminine or overly masculine, or attempting to present as one of those and overcompensating.
This isn’t a discussion of which one is “better,” but rather how some polarity teachings are toxic on both sides. How can we each strike a balance between our own feminine and masculine?

    Hustle and Flow

    Hustle and Flow

What is flow and what is actually back-end hustle? How many gurus have you heard claim that they only work 4 or 10 hours a week? How many times have you heard that business is easy if you just allow it to be? Most of those claims don’t take into account how much time is spent thinking of a plan for the next quarter, or engaging with your community online, or having a conversation with your VA, or how much easier marketing feels with their accumulated experience.
More often than not, the 6-7 figure earners are talking their gross value of sales, not necessarily the cash sales or taking payment plans into account, and they may be talking about other investments when they’re bragging about their numbers. You never know unless you’re on the back end of their business, which means you’re the one doing the hustling so that they can brag about how easy it is.
There are ways to streamline and automate pieces of your business, but at the end of the day, you need to put in the work in some way or another in order to have a sustainable business.

    From New Age To Jesus

    From New Age To Jesus

One of our main themes of this podcast is how the pendulum swings. In honor of Halloween, in this episode we’re going to talk about those who sell and practice New Age/Occult principles and swing all the way back over to Christianity. There’s a rabbit hole there, if you feel like digging.
For the purposes of our discussion, we’ll be using the terms new age, occult, mysticism, etc. interchangeably, and Christianity will include all denominations. The point is that there have been many spiritual business owners that have completely abandoned the philosophies they were living and selling.
What we were surprised to find out was that many of these people that had built their livelihood on new age practices experienced some sort of major life event that forced them to reflect on their personal stance of things.

Great insider insight

I listened to the first episode and can’t wait for the next one to come out. The inside view of an industry that can be really amazing or really not. Love the intelligent conversation between these two.

Looking forward to more!

While this is only the first episode, I think this podcast holds a lot of promise. Both of the hosts, Gwen and Katie, really open up about their history with religion and how they've been impacted by the online business world they're a part of.

I really look forward to hearing more of their insights and seeing where they take this!
